
The Story of Life's 5
In November of 2007 my Dad was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. Following a few classes and meetings with doctors he was faced with this new lifestyle.
He was told to eat fewer carbohydrates, limit sugar or use sugar substitutes, exercise more and take medication. The most profound message he heard was, “you will have this disease for the rest of your life, and you will never be cured. “You will need diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol medication.”
My Dad was determined not to accept this conclusion. My mom and I attended nutrition classes with him. We studied, researched and experimented with food to come up recipes and a design for healthy living. We started to use all natural, some organic, no sugar substitutes or processed sweeteners, but wholesome, natural, pure ingredients.
After a year of learning and studying what was working for my dad, we discovered that the recipes we were making, the daily exercises he was doing and the lifestyle he was leading was not only good for a diabetic but excellent for any health conscious person. When he goes in to get tested for his A1C, there is no sign of diabetes. My Dad is now leading a Healthy Life, a life that consists of 5 important areas:
Nutrition
Exercise
Emotional Wellbeing
Financial Stability
Faith
Focusing on these 5 areas will give you a healthy and fulfilling life. In order to achieve this you must:
1. Eat proper, healthy foods
2. Be active everyday
3. Maintain emotional wellness
4. Live within your means
5. Have a strong faith in your Saviour
All five areas are essential for a life that is healthy,
balanced and complete!
