5 Steps to Nutritional Wellness
1. Nourish your Soul
In order for your body to become healthy your soul also needs to be nourished. Your body is special and unique to you. Only you can take care of yourself. So many symptoms of emotional eating are linked to other unresolved conflicts, traumas and stressors in your life. Examine yourself and ask: Why am I eating? When am I eating? When am I eating high calorie, high fat, sugary, and caffeinated foods? Am I alone when I eat? Do I feel better after I eat or worse? Knowing these answers will bring an understanding to your eating habits.
2. Know your Body
How do foods affect you? Do I get a refreshing night’s sleep? When do I feel the most energized? Am I drinking enough water? Am I genuinely happy?
3. Choose the Right Foods
Healthy eating includes: foods from the major food groups: fruits, veggies, grains, low-fat dairy products, lean protein sources, nuts and seeds. Include proper amount of nutrients and calories to help you maintain a healthy weight. Include foods you like and can easily find in your grocery store. Know what fits your lifestyle and budget.
4. Evaluate your Success
Is the plan I have started responding positively? Can this way of healthy eating be easily maintained throughout my life and throughout all four seasons? Am I digesting foods correctly? Am I having healthy bowel movements? Should I talk with others for motivation and encouragement?
5. Get Proper Nutrients/Drink Water
Taking a multi vitamin is essential for maximum health. Consuming the correct amount of vitamins and minerals is nearly impossible with the food we eat. Everyone should be taking a “Foundation Pack” that provides all of the critical nutrients to build a healthy foundation. This includes: 1. Multi-Mineral/Vitamin, 2. Omega 3-6-9 from fish, borage, and flax oil, and 3. Probiotics with active organisms with beneficial bacteria. The most abundant and healthy natural resource! Water will energize, refresh and clean out your system. Water also fills you up. You may just need a drink of water instead of a snack. Tea is also an excellent alternative to water with many antioxidants and health benefits.
